Types of Lip Fillers
There are several types of lip fillers available, including Restylane, Juvéderm, and Belotero. At DMR Aesthetics, we use Restylane as our preferred lip filler.
There is an entire family of this type of filler, which uses hyaluronic acid (a natural substance found in the body) to add volume. Specifically, many plastic surgeons, including Dr. Rice, like Restylane Kysse.
This is the newer version of Restylane Silk, and it does an amazing job of creating beautiful natural looking lips for patients.
You may have heard of lip flip procedures. When it comes to lip filler vs lip flip, both make the lips look bigger. However, the main difference is that lip filler is injected into the lips, and a lip flip uses Botox injections to “flip” your lips upward and outward.
Benefits of Lip Fillers
Lip filler is most commonly used to enhance the shape and volume of the lips, adding fullness and a more luxurious pout.
Of course, many patients seek lip enhancement with fillers to correct an asymmetry or improve the texture of their lips as well. Especially on the upper lip (but sometimes on the lower lip too), fine lip lines and wrinkles
are common, and filler can help smooth things out.
Lip enhancement with fillers also provides a non surgical lip augmentation (no need for lip implants). Finally, with enhanced lips, patients report feeling more confident about their youthful appearance, which can have an overall positive impact on many areas of life.
Lip Filler Healing Process
Swelling is normal after getting lip filler, and bruising is a possibility as well. To keep these at a minimum, we recommend taking it easy for a few days following your procedure. We also recommend staying hydrated with plenty of water.
If the topical numbing cream wears off after your lip injection and you feel discomfort, applying ice can help as long as this is cleared by your provider.
Lip Filler Swelling Stages
Lip injections can cause swelling because the process does cause minor trauma. Furthermore, the lips have many glands and blood vessels — both of which can lead to more swelling.
As far as examining a stages of healing lip filler swelling timeline, whether we’re talking about 0.5 ml lip filler swelling stages or 1 ml lip filler swelling stages, symptoms are typically similar.
On the day of your procedure, you can expect some mild swelling to begin with, and this will probably increase in the following days.
Don’t worry. As you progress through the healing process 1 week lip filler swelling stages typically reveal that the swelling has gone down significantly, but you are left with beautiful, plump lips.
